Freddie

Frederick Ragwinge
Player Characters only know him as: “Freddie”
he/him

Physical appearance

Race: Nocturne/Infernis
Age: 38
Height: 210cm (Usually stands at 190-ish due to bad posture)
Clothing: A long clinical robe with an apron, with long wrappings running up his arms.
Scars: Small cuts around his body, most prominent are the two massive scars that run along his arms and all the way down his back from losing his wings.

Presence: Freddie is a vampire bat with a massive frame and bad posture.
He rarely stands up to his full height, usually walking around hunched over. Still his height, prominent fangs and deep voice combined to the fact that blood is in fact part of his diet usually make people wary of him.
Overall Freddie’s movement and gestures are carried in a collected manner, always with intention.

His fighting style relies on two blades he can perform precise cuts with, thanks to his doctoral studies he knows the most lethal spots of a humanoid. However, once blood starts to splatter in a battle Freddie gets more disorderly, depending how long it’s been since his last feed of blood. The longer the gaps between in taking blood the messier he gets, close to a mania-like state (Blood Frenzy).

Origin

Freddie spent his childhood in a secluded small community, in a town called Old Hemlock. Only his father was around, Freddie’s mother died soon after his birth to a chronical disease. Freddie was a bright minded little battling and it earned him a scholarship to a university in another town, far from home. In Old Hemlock, Freddie and his father lived below middle class, but they always managed. During his youth, Freddie’s father warned him about the dangerous lure of their bloodline, hemocraft that ran in their blood and how a vampire bat should only feed when necessary, never for thrill or power. He taught Freddie to suffocate the bloodmagic within him, fearing how it could twist a good heart or draw suspicion from others. Among the common folk, such craft was feared or even forbidden. Due to his father however. Freddie arrived at Atlantis around the age of 17, having now spent over 20 years in the city Freddie does view the city as his home. Freddie hasn’t been in touch with his father for the past 10 years or so.

University

During his university years, Freddie majored in toxicology, his studies combining biology with chemistry. It was during this time he crossed paths with Hitch, a communication’s major who had gathered a commendable network of underground connections. Their relationship was purely transactional, Hitch saw potential in Freddie’s knowledge and through Freddie’s carelessness found out about Freddie’s hemocraft abilities, then encouraged him to put them to a more “profitable use.” Through Hitch’s network, Freddie began a quiet “hobby” of providing adrenaline shots and experimental brews to ring fighters, using his scientific skill to craft formulas that pushed the body to its limits.

Nyméra

During Freddie’s university years (around the age of 22) he meets a young Firbolg called Nyméra, despite them being from completely different worlds the two ran into trouble together, proving time after time that Nyméra's brawn combined with Freddie’s brain was a good combination to solve many hurdles. Their long history makes their dynamic in the present time consists of them almost constantly bickering one minute, the next they find comfort in one another reminiscing old times when things were easier. Almost like an old married couple, despite the two never being interested in one another in that way. Nymérahelped Freddie when he was setting up his potion shop. They also have a strange “joint custody” of Roa.

Hemlock & Echo

After Freddie completed his studies he worked for a prestigious company for nearly a decade. It’s clear something major happened as to why Freddie no longer works for the company, but Freddie hasn’t told anyone the details of what caused his dismissal, claiming it’s just “some bureaucratic bullshit”. Since then he started his own potion store called Hemlock & Echo at an abandoned metro station with a massive basement. Freddie also lives in the settlement. Most of his income isn’t from the over the counter potions he sells but from the special orders that he completes through the basement’s lab. His old university contact, Hitch, now serves as his fixer, connecting Freddie with clients who need his unique mix of alchemy, stealth, and bloodcraft. Freddie tries to combine feeding on blood to his assassination gigs, so his Blood Frenzy can be dealt with without it causing harm to unwanted parties or locations.

Bane aka Bunny

Freddie and Bunny met after one of Freddie’s assassination gigs, while dealing with the aftermath of another Blood Frenzy, while the bat is weak and a little out of it. Bunny decided to help Freddie after he convinced the Imp that it would be worth his while. The two end up spending more and more time together, eventually getting intimate with one another. Bunny had a clear ruling for their relationship, neither was allowed to fall in love or ask too many questions about their personal lives. The arrangement worked for some while, but their mismatched tempers clashed every so often. Things break off between them after under ugly conditions, they can function in joint missions around Nyméra's gym, but they avoid situations where it’s just the two of them. Bunny still hasn’t claimed the favor Freddie has promised him from their first meeting.

Roa

Recently Freddie has been looking more into natural poisons, venoms and the like, this causing him to leave the city’s premises to find plants and herbs. On one of his trips he runs into a quite simple humanoid mouse, who offers her help in trying to navigate the woods to gather the needed ingredients. One thing he doesn’t expect is for the mouse to follow him home and no matter how many times Freddie tried to keep her out, she always seemed to find a way back into his house. Eventually he gives up and offers Roa to work at Hemlock & Echo, soon Roa also has her own room right next to the shop, while Freddie moves his own room to the basement to make room. Freddie is strict about the fact he and Roa are solely roommates, despite the odd parental-like arrangement he and Nyméra have in looking after the mouse in turns.
